The District has several programs to support housing providers and tenants with emergency rental assistance:

STAY DC: STAY DC is a financial assistance program for D.C. renters and housing providers who are looking for support to cover housing and utility expenses and offset the loss of income. Apply today to receive money you can use to help you pay for your rent, gas, water, and electricity.

A Wider Circle and Lighthouse DC provide donated household items to assist tenants settle into their new home:
District residents may request emergency shelter by calling the Shelter Hotline at (202) 399-7093 or 311. The hotline operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during hypothermia season (November 1 – March 31).
